WHAT THE YOUTH COMMITTEE DOES.....
The Committee decides what activties the project does, it decides how much the activities cost, it decides on how the income generated by the project is used, it decides on the direction the project takes, it plans for the future, it assists in the running, the development and the planning of the project, no easy task !
They also assist in the funding for the project contributing to Funding Appications, specifically applying for Cashback for Communities Funding themselves, applying and being interviewed for Youthbank Funding many times over the years.
YOUTH COMMITTEE HISTORY.....
The project has had young people a its heart since 2007 when the project was only a consideration of part of the new building development of the Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, where two local young people where key in the strategic planning and development of the youth project. With the recruitment of the Youth Development worker in 2008 and assistance from the "Yes Project" part of Save the Children, the young people grew to a Steering Group of 10 young people and planned the opening, activities and initial programme of the project.
Since then the first Youth Committee of Allan Scott, Adrienne Coyne, James Weir, Callum Baird, Emma Mackay, Zara Orford, Marissa McKelvie, Brendan Robertson, John Allan Miller and Duncan Robertson, has left us and the new youth committe have taken the baton, with the new committee avergaing the age of 14 years old we hope that they will continue to develop the project and skills themselves and volunter with the project into their adulthood building on the many skills and experiences they have acquired already.
